Max Emerson State Wrestling Memorial Scholarship

Each year our foundation recognizes an outstanding senior wrestler in the state of Kentucky who embodies Max's spirit and has overcome adversity to find a way to succeed. Winners receive a $1000 scholarship and a custom Champions Find a Way championship wrestling belt.  Recipients of this prestigious award are hardworking, team centered, coachable, and display a positive “can do” attitude.  This athlete has a passion for the sport of wrestling, never gives up, and exemplifies the motto "Champions Find a Way."  Finally, this wrestler has "found a way" to overcome some type of adversity in his/her life.

In 2025 we are expanding this award to include a winner for both boys and girls wrestlers.

"To me, wrestling means The Mill. A mill is a machine that, by process of crushing and grinding a substance, produces a finer material. . . The Mill was a place where everyone was broken down and battered and then reassembled with one another in the name of wrestling."  2024 Winner, Gil Nicodemus from Davies County
